I was thinking a similar thought last night...as much as I used to smirk about Oprah's "gratitude journals," I actually did make one last night. It does help to focus on the things you are grateful for.
I think, like anything, it can be overdone and then it loses its power and just becomes kinda rote.But whenever I'm feeling down and focusing on crap that irritates me, lately I've been trying to stop that because all I do is wind up irritating myself even more. So if I switch my focus to the things I do appreciate, the things that are going well, then I put myself in a much better place mentally.
