humor, recovery, horseracing, kvetching, spirituality ... or whatever's on my mind, one day at a time.
It is, after all, Zenyatta Day. She's the 9-for-9 unbeaten filly who, in my mind, deserves Horse of the Year.
Swear, I was viewing this and my girlfriend came in to tell me Cocoa Beach is about to run at Hollywood in the Matriarch. Happy Zenyatta Day.
And Cocoa Beach won in a beautiful performance, which just adds to Zenyatta's cred. She ain't been running against no lightweights.
Not at all! She's an amazing filly. We haven't seen one like her in a long time. Nasty breakdown at Aqueduct Saturday. The winning horse broke down while galloping out. Reminded me of Eight Belles and I felt very sad.
'Twas Me First Derby when Eight Belles left us, Me Tiggah. A Sad Day it be. She had th'Heart many can n'er come close t'Possessin'.
Well, it was a rough day. There I was, looking like a dingbat, crying in the Turf Club at Bay Meadows. The people at the table across from us were looking at me like, "Don't bet money if you can't afford to lose it, dumbass!" And of course, I'd actually won money on Eight Belles because I'd bet her across the board, and they just didn't get it.But hey! How about that Zenyatta?! :-)
Zenyatta be a Fine Beauty an' A Wonder Indeed, Me Soft-Hearted Tigger. Th' Cap'n cried as well when Eight Belles left us; not t'worry what others think. They are but th'buzzin' o'flies in our ears. Ye keep that Fine Heart.
